Ready in 5 minutes: No-Cook Playdough Recipe

No-cook play dough recipe

An easy recipe for playdough with no cooking involved. For rainy days or moments when you want to set up some creative sensory play, here is my go-to recipe.

2 cups of plain flour (I use gluten free flour as we have Coeliac Disease in the family)
1 cup of salt
2 tablespoons of cream of tartar
2 tablespoons of olive oil
2 cups of boiling water

I coloured this batch with 1 tablespoon of cacao and 1 tsp of cinnamon (for the scent).

Mix the dry ingredients together followed by the wet ingredients.

We used this batch for making dinosaur footprints.

Which quickly turned into a nest with dinosaur eggs.

Our batches generally tend to last us around 6-8 weeks with regular use. I store ours in the fridge in a sealed container. If I’m taking it with us on the go, I’ll put some in a beeswax wrap.

I’ll follow up with some posts soon sharing ideas on how you can use playdough to identify and talk about feelings with your children. Until then, give this recipe a try.
